Backed by strong sales in two-wheelers, a rise in exports, and SUVs taking over buyers' interest, automakers in India have announced their sales numbers for March. Last month, we saw some big names post positive growth, including Mahindra and Maruti, while we are still waiting for a few to provide their growth figures.

Check the list of March sales

Maruti Suzuki: The biggest auto major in India reported a 3% Y-O-Y increase in total sales at 192,984 units in March. The auto major sold a total of 187,196 units in the same month last year.

Mahindra and Mahindra: M&M reported an 18% increase in domestic passenger vehicle sales in March, reaching 48,048 units, up from 40,631 in the same month the previous year.

Tata Motors: The domestic sales of Tata Motors were steady in March, at 90,500 vehicles. The automaker sold 90,822 vehicles in the same month last year.

Ashok Leyland: Total sales of Ashok Leyland Ltd. rose 6% year-on-year to 24,060 units in March 2025, as against 22,736 units in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing on Tuesday.

Eicher Motors: Sales of commercial vehicle units of Eicher Motors Ltd. rose 7.6% year-on-year to 12,094 units in March 2025 as against 11,242 in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing on Tuesday.

Hyundai Motors: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) reported total sales of 762,052 units in FY24-25. Domestic sales totaled 598,666 units, with export sales of 163,386 units.

Apart from the four-wheeler makers, Ola, Nissan, and Royal Enfield have shared their sales numbers. Ola has registered sales of over 23,000 units in March, while Royal Enfield has achieved over 1 million sales in the previous financial year, which is the highest recorded to date. Royal Enfield has expanded its 650cc portfolio to multiple motorcycles and the latest is the Classic 650, which is underpinned by the same platform the Shotgun 650 uses.

In a nutshell, these numbers indicate a positive trend in the Indian auto market, driven by growing demand for SUVs and electric vehicles.
